The recovery of brominated flame-retardant plastics is basically the recovery of the electric and electronic equipment made from this kind of plastics. Three methods for recycling and reuse of brominated flame-retarded plastics are summarized. Mechanical recycling;②Incineration with energy recovery;③Incineration of pyrolysis with recovery of bromine or hydrobromic acid. The discussions focus on the environmental issue in the recycling processes. From the ecological and economical points of view, both the mechanical and incineration methods are practical and safe. But the incineration process should be carried out properly and the production and release of dioxins must be strictly controlled and monitored.

Then the SO /Ag-TiO2 photo-catalyst was modified by AgNO3. The prepared samples were characterized with UV-vis, IR, XRD and BET measurements. The photo-catalytic reactivity of samples was evaluated by using methyl orange and phenol aqueous solution as simulated contaminants. The results showed that the photo-catalytic reactivity of SO -TiO2 was 10 times higher than that of unmodified TiO2 and the photo-catalytic reactivity of SO /Ag-TiO2 was even higher than that of P-25.

A series of activated carbons were prepared from tobacco stems as raw materials and potassium hydroxide as activating agent by a one-step carbonization process. The effects of the preparation variables on the yield and adsorption properties of activated carbon were systematically studied via orthogonal experiments, and the optimum condition was obtained. The iodine value of the activated carbon prepared under the optimum condition was 1198.27mg/g and the methylene blue adsorption was 3 times of that the first grade product specified in the National Standard. Furthermore, the nitrogen isotherm of the sample was determined. The porous structures were investigated with the Horvath-Kawazoe equations and density function theory. The results of the pore structures analysis was consistent with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study.

The relative molecular weight of chitosan was determined by the relationships of three methods, HPLC, intrinsic viscosity, and dynamics viscosity. The intrinsic viscosity of chitosan solution was measured with one-point Ubbelohde viscometer, the relative molecular weight of chitosan was determined with HPLC, and the MHS equation was obtained as [η] = 3.72 × 10-5Mw 1.37. This paper also sets up the relationship between dynamics viscosity and the molecular weight of chitosan during 10 mg/mL solution degradation by chitosanase.

Based on the life cycle inventory of ethylene production, the life cycle impact assessment was performed, and the overall impact indicator was 1.12×10-10 a-1. According to the life cycle interpretation, the impact of the depletion of non-renewable resources was more than 58% in the overall impact. The life cycle impact assessment of individual pollutants showed that the direct emissions of ethylene and NOx were the main sources of environmental burden, and their shares were both about 1/4.

The chemical reactions among groups and the change of products with time were analyzed. The result showed that several properties of modified products were greatly improved. Under the suitable raw material ratio and experiment condition, the viscosity, flow ability, stability, storage life, were satisfactory. When PU/EP curing agent was 5∶3, the skin drying time was 45min, the shearing intensity was more than 19MPa, the product was tough, solvent resistant and temperature resistant. During curing process no bubble was created, which was good for usein bonding and sealing.

The effects of pH, temperature, mol ratio of 3,4-dimethyl-benzenesulfonic acid to L-leucine and NH4Cl concentration on the L-leucine precipitation yield by reacting with 3,4-dimethyl-benzenesulfonic acid were investigated. The pH value must be kept lower than 1.5, the optimal mol ratio of 3,4–dimethyl-benzenesulfonic acid to L-leucine was 3∶1. A low temperature was favorable for precipitation, preferably 0C.The yield decreased with the increase of NH4Cl concentration. L-leucine was separated from pig blood hydrolysate after removal of acid, and the precipitation rate was 90.62%. The L-leucine after refinement was in agreement with the standard of Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China (2000 edition, the second section)。

An experiment was conducted to investigate the treatment of soybean whey with a dual-step ultrafiltration system which consisted of an air blasting enhanced vibratory ultrafiltration (MWCO50kDa) and a cross-flow ultrafiltration (MWCO10kDa). The results revealed that the operation duration of each cycle in the treatment of soybean whey with the dual-step ultrafiltration system reached more than 23h. The protein concentration of soybean whey was reduced from 0.5% to 0.04%; and both total sugar and salinity were retained at a lowered rate of about 10%. The membrane permeate flux of the fouled system was restored to more than 90% by chemical cleaning in 2h. The separation property of the membranes adopted in the system was not changed remarkably during long-term operation. The whey protein obtained in the experiment was a satisfactory product in that the protein concentration was higher than 70% and the salinity was around 10%.
