    The results of experiments of hydrogen storage in carbon nanotubes as well as theoretical calculations were reviewed,and the latest development of hydrogen storage in nanotubes was introduced. Different methods were compared and analyzed,and the feasibility of hydrogen in carbon nanotubes was discussed. The prospective application of carbon nanotubes as excellent adsorbents was presented.

    Templated carbonization method has pioneered a new field in the preparation of porous carbon and become the most effective approach to controlling the structure of porous carbon in recent years. In this paper, the shortage of traditional method in the preparation of porous carbon is introduced, and the development of preparation of porous carbons by using silica gel, clay, zeolite and mesoporous silica as the temlate in carbonization is reviewed. The potential applications of templated carbons in the fields such as energy storage media, electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) and catalyst support are also presented. Further research is to be done in the field of preparation of porous carbons by using the templated approach.
    Progress in extraction and purification of alkaloids

    Alkaloids are the effective ingredients in many Chinese herbs. The extraction and purification technology is the key issue in alkaloid preparation. At present,the commonly used extraction technology includes decoction,circumfluence,maceration and percolation. The purification technology includes organic solvent extraction,adsorption chromatography,ion-exchange resin adsorption and macro-porous resin adsorption. New technologies such as ultrasound,microwave,supercritical fluid extraction,molecular imprinting and membrane separation technology are used to increase efficiency and save energy of the extraction and purification process. The methods and the application of new technologies in extracting and purifying alkaloids are reviewed. Moreover the prospect of alkaloid preparation is discussed.

    The hydroxyl–alkyl and cationic esterification modification of guar gum is introduced. Research is focused on grafted copolymerization of guar gum with various ethylene monomers such as acrylamide,acrylonitrile,etc. The optimum parameters,such as grating ratio,efficiency etc. are listed. Guar gum derivatives are used as retention and drainage aids,as well as dry strength agent in the papermaking industry. The potential application in the future is pointed out.

    The molding methods and the applications of fibers of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and its copolymers or blendings,which have high strength and controlled degradable rate,are reviewed. The characteristics of melt–spinning,solution spinning,electrospinning,supercritical fluid technique and gelation freeze–drying are summarized in detail,and the effect of molding process on the morphologic structure and performance of the fibers are discussed. The new study methods and new products of PLA fibers are introduced. The PLA fibers with high performance have been widely used in the biomedicine,household goods.

    Molecular distillation as a new and high efficiency separation technology has been widely used in many fields. The principle and equipment composition of molecular distillation are briefly introduced. The structure and characteristics of the domestic and overseas molecular distillation equipment such as stationary molecular still,falling-film still,wiped-film still and centrifugal molecular still are analyzed in detail. Some suggestions are presented to improve the performance of the feed system, distiller,fraction collector system and cooling system of the molecular distillation equipment.

    The pilot plant scale experimentation of adsorbing the foul gas from refinery wastewater treatment plant with granular activated carbon waas studied.The result showed that the removal rate for the sulfide in the foul gas was above 95.2% by using pretreatment- desulfurization .The process is suitable for purifying low concentration foul gas and providing a good way to control odour pollution.
    Phenols wastewater treatment with PDMS composite membrane

    PDMS composite membranes were used to treat phenol wastewater. The composite membrane consists of a thin dense selective PDMS layer coated on a microporous PSf layer. The rate of organic transfer through the approximately 10μm PDMS layer membranes is much higher than that of a 0.5mm PDMS dense membrane in the reference. In our experiments,the recovery of phenol can be 99.9% and 96.9% from 0.939g/L and 8.977g/L wastewater,respectively. The overall mass transfer coefficient (OMTC) through thin PDMS layer is up to 3.92×10-7m/s calculated by mathematic model established in this paper,larger than 1.29×10-7m/s through PDMS tube. The pH value of NaOH solution has not effect on OMTC of phenol through thin PDMS layer,according with the mathematic model established in this paper. The transfer of phenol from electrolyte solutions containing NaCl has been studied. The OMTC of phenol containing NaCl is increased dramatically.

    Based on the principle of heterogeneous nucleation and micro-mixing in the impinging- streamrotating packed bed (IS–RPB) reactor, the liquid phase cladding and interfacial reaction was adopted to prepareγ–Al2O3/TiO2 nanopowder by using nanometric TiO2•nH2O particles as base material and AlCl3•6H2O solution as cladding phase. The dispersion and the liquid–solid mixing of nanoparticles in the high gravity field in the IS–RPB reactor were also discussed. According to the spectra of FTIR, TEM Zeta and XRD, it was inferred that the Ti–O–Al bond was formed at the interface of the coating layer and the surface of nanosized TiO2 particles. The thickness of Al2O3 membrane with sponge structure was about 5nm.

    With AA and AMPS as main raw materials,NMBA as crosslinking agent,a super absorbent of high salt tolerance was synthesized in aqueous solution. The mol ratio of AA/AMPS was 85/15,the mass of cross–linking agent was 0.0125%,and the mass of initiatoris was 0.05%. AA was neutralized partially by 90% sodium hydroxide,the mass of monomer was 35% in solution,and reaction temperature was 55~75℃. The results showed that super absorbent synthesized could absorb water as high as 900 g/g,125 g/g in 0.9% NaCl solution and 100 g/g in 1.8% NaCl solution.

    A waterborne polyurethane emulsion and a kind of waterborne polyurethane modified with aminoethylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane (AEAPS) were prepared. Their properties and their application as fabric coating were studied. The results showed that the modified waterborne polyurethane had good centrifugal stability when the mass ratio of amino silicone oil to polypropylene glycol was 8.18% and there was 0.92% silicon on the surface of films casted from the modified waterborne polyurethane. Its microphase separation, water resistance and thermal stability were better. Furthermore, the fabric coated with the modified waterborne polyurethane had good softness and smoothness.

    The effects of transglutaminase (TGase) treatment on the properties of edible films cast from soybean protein isolates (SPI1,SPI2),sodium caseinate (NaCN1,NaCN2) and gelatin (G1,G2) were investigated. Tensile strength (TS),elongation at break (EB),moisture content (MC),total soluble matter (TSM),surface hydrophobicity (S0) as well as transparency of TGase-treated films and control films were evaluated after conditioning film specimens at 25 ℃ and 50% relative humidity (RH) for 48 h. TGase treatment significantly increased (P≤0.05) the TS and S0 values of most protein films by 13.1%~33.2 % and 2.4%~216.1 %,respectively,and simultaneously significantly decreased the TSM of all films by 21.2%~69.9%. TGase treatment improved EB of films cast from SPI2,NaCN and gelatin,while reduced EB of SPI1 films. The transparency of TGase-treated films from SPI1,NaCN2 and G1 was lower than that of control. SDS-PAGE analyses confirmed the occurrence of cross-linking induced by TGase,which may account for the higher TS,S0 and lower TSM values (as compared to the control).

    Silicone-acrylate copolymer nanolatex was prepared by the seed semi-continuous emulsion polymerization. Optimized synthesis conditions of silicone-acrylate copolymer nanolatex with 42%(w) solid content by orthogonal design based on the targets of water adsorption and monomer conversion were as follows:reaction temperature 85℃, contents of emulsifier, initiator and silicon 3%, 0.1%, 7%(based on monomer mass) respectively, mass ratio of MMA and BA 28/20. The results obtained by TEM analysis of particle size and its size distribution of optimized synthesis sample showed that above 93% of particles sizes was smaller than 100nm, average particle size was 71.0 nm and wide particles size distribution. FT-IR spectrum and cross-linking degree data confirmed the copolymerization of silicone and acrylate. The nanolatex had high Ca2+ stability, dynamic stability and thermal stability, and its film had low water adsorption.

    The method for developing life cycle inventory of ethylene production was introduced,and the life cycle inventory was compiled. The life cycle consumptions of raw coal,crude oil and natural gas of unit ethylene production were 85.60 kg/t,2302.56 kg/t and 162.21 m3/t respectively, and the life cycle emissions of CO2,SO2,NOx,CO,ethylene and dust were 2 257.04 kg/t,8.93 kg/t,11.60 kg/t,7.62 kg/t,2.90 kg/t and 5.84 kg/t respectively. The direct emissions of ethylene production was the main source of the life cycle emission of ethylene,CO,dust and NOx. The CO2 direct emission and indirect emission was equivalent with each other basically; while the life cycle emission of SO2 mainly came from the stages of fuels production and transportation.

    Needle-like nanometer CaCO3 was produced in a commercial reactor by using self-developed crystal-directing-agents under the conditions of the carbonization temperature as high as 30~75 ℃ and Ca(OH)2 slurry concentration as high as 8%~12%. The average diameter of the produced nano-CaCO3 was 20nm, the aspect ratio 10~15,the specific surface area ≥90m2/g. The experiments on its application in emulsion paint and in PVC were made and good results were obtained. The design schemes of anew plant and revamping an existing plant for needle-like nano-CaCO3 production are given in this paper.

    Such factors as distillation temperature and distillation pressure, etc. which affect the process of preparing citral from Litsea cubeba oil and of preparing cinnamaldehyde from cassia oil by molecular distillation were investigated under rotation of 370~390 r/min,flow rate of 1drop/s,and temperature of cooling water 4~5℃. The percentage composition of citral and cinnamaldehyde were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The optimum conditions for obtaining distillate containing 98.2% citral and for obtaining distillate containing 98.7% cinnamaldehyde were distillation temperature 45℃,system pressure 0.15 Pa and distillation temperature 60 ℃,system pressure 0.2 kPa,respectively.

    The industrial application of KR-1 decalcifying agent and JCM-2004RPD decalcifying agent in Khartoum Refinery Co. Ltd. is introduced both decalcifying agents have good decalcification effect,and decalcification rate can reach more than 94%. In addition,it has also certain iron removal effect,and iron removal rate can reach more than 60%. After decalcification,calcium content in crude after desalter can be lower than 100 µg/g,salt (NaCl) content in crude after desalter can be lower than 3mg/L,water content in crude after desalter can be lower than 0.2%.
