Abstract:

The recent technologies of ethanediol produced from oil and coal are introduced. Ethanediol production，market and prospects at home and abroad are analyzed. The demand of ethanediol in China is driven by the rapidly developing polyester industry，and the market prospect of ethanediol is broad. Although the coal to ethanediol technology has been taken as one of the key fields to be developed for the coal chemical industry of China，the resources and markets should be considered carefully the decision of building new production is made. China should focus on reducing cost and actively responding to the challenges of foreign imports，strengthening research and development，and expending the field of application.
