Abstract: This paper mainly introduces the pyrolysis process of sewage sludge and pyrolysis mechanism，and summarizes the structural properties of the solid residue：pore structure distribution，elemental composition and acidity. The progress of the applications of the solid residue in adsorbing metal ions，dye or COD in waste water and H2S or SO2 in gas flow is introduced. It is emphasized that the pyrolysis of sewage sludge will play a very important role in its reuse.
