Abstract: This paper reviews recent developments of the fabrication methods of magnetic nano-wire arrays by depositing into pores of membranes，such as the sol-gel method，chemical deposition method and electrochemical deposition method. These membranes include porous anodic aluminum (AAO) template and track-etched polymer membrane. The applications of nano-wire arrays to magnetic recording，giant magneto resistance，quantum disk and super-hgh density magnetic recording are presented.
