Abstract: The preparation techniques of activated carbon monolith in China and overseas are summarized in this paper，and the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques are also compared．The results show that the monolith with higher surface area and better mechanical properties could be prepared by molding the mixture of powdered activated carbon and the organic binder．Furthermore，the factors affecting the properties of as-prepared activated carbon monolith, including binder，the surface properties of powdered activated carbon，additives，and the process of molding，are discussed in detail．
