Effect of diethyl ether on preparation of submicron-sized magnesium hydroxide

Abstract: The effect of diethyl ether on preparation of magnesium hydroxide submicron-sized particles at ambient temperature was studied via the direct precipitation method by using MgCl2·6H2O and NH3·H2O as raw materials. The morphology,crystalline structure and thermal behavior were characterized by TEM,XRD and TG,respectively. The result indicated that the time of filtering and drying of products was drastically decreased by 96 % and 75 % compared to blank experiments,when diethyl ether was fed into mother liquor and the percentage composition was 80 %,the impurity of NH4Cl·MgCl2·6H2O was effectively inhibited,and disk-like magnesium hydroxide particles with excellent dispersibility were obtained. It was also found that hydrophilicity of products was completely changed to hydrophobicity,and the morphology of products was changed from hexagonal plates to needles when stearic acid existed in (C2H5)2O-H2O system and the the amount of stearic acid was 1.2 % based on the weight of MgCl2·6H2O.

摘要: 采用直接沉淀法,以六水氯化镁(MgCl2·6H2O)和工业氨水(NH3·H2O)为主要原料,在室温下研究了乙醚对超细氢氧化镁制备的影响,并通过高压透射电子显微镜(TEM)、X射线衍射(XRD)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(FT-IR)等测试手段对产品的形貌、晶形结构和热行为进行表征。结果显示:当母液中加入乙醚且当其质量分数为80 %时,产品的过滤、干燥时间较未加入前分别减少了96 %和75 %,并有效抑制了NH4Cl·MgCl2·6H2O杂质的产生,制得了分散性良好的圆片状氢氧化镁粉体;当在乙醚-水体系中加入硬脂酸且当其含量为MgCl2·6H2O质量的 1.2 %时,产品完全由亲水性转变为疏水性,其形貌完全由六方片状转变为针状。
